When is a website more than just a website?
When it becomes an information hub for the entire community!

Henry Hudson Regional School District

Henry Hudson Regional School serves students in seventh through twelfth grades in Highlands and Atlantic Highlands, NJ. They are the epitome of a “small” school district. With a school this size, it is rare to find more than one person running the entire technology infrastructure—web servers, email servers, PC and printer maintenance, teacher and student technology training, and more. This school was no exception.

How did a school this size become the only high school in 2004 to win the New Jersey’s Governor’s School of Excellence Award? One of the reasons was their “integration of technology” throughout the school and curriculum.

Zumu helped Hudson achieve this goal by providing the framework allowing their website to support all the features they incorporate throughout the school—a robust, content rich website; teacher pages; on-line lesson plans; digital lockers and on-line portfolios for students and teachers.

Teachers and administrators keep their sections of the website up-to-date by signing into the website and editing pages they have permission to edit. This eliminates the need to funnel all web changes through one person, saving time and money. All changes are easily reviewed by the administration.

Students are taught how to login to the school website during the first week of school in conjunction with their other technology training. Students can use their digital locker to hold all their school projects. This allows technology to be integrated into all classes. When doing research or creating projects, classes utilize the computer labs knowing that everyone can access their work.
